Hollow Wood
Kennels is owned and operated by Adam and
Alecia Keith. Located in the foothills of
Lookout Mountain in Flintstone, GA. Hollow
Wood Kennels offer retriever training, obedience training, training
classes, breeding,
and boarding.
They have three Labs of their own and are
continuously training a host of different retrievers. With the birth of
their first child Luke, they decided that while Adam
ran his
family’s hardware businesses, Alecia would retire early after two years of teaching
1st graders and stay home to be a mom. They decided to build a kennel
for training and boarding dogs. Today, they are expanding due to the success of
the business and have even developed the 30 acres track into training
grounds complete with a new training pond. On October 12, 2010
their second child was born. Ella is their first daughter.
Adam began working with retrievers in 2001 after meeting
Roddy Reynolds, a well respected and
successful trainer in the Chattanooga area. He
bought a little black lab named Daisy and began spending all his free
time around Roddy in hopes of learning all he could. Adam later
recruited Roddy and a few buddies and formed the Dixieland Hunting
Retriever Club in Chattanooga, TN. He now
trains up to four client dogs per month
and runs the
family’s two ACE Hardware stores.
If not for Alecia’s father, Anthony Arp, the
kennel would have never
happened. Anthony devoted every evening and even Saturdays for 8
straight months to building the 1,200 sq ft facility.
He and Adam built everything themselves from the
ground up. Worst of all, he had to endure Adam’s endless
mind changing of how the they should go
about building it!
Many, many, many, many, thanks go to Anthony
for all his help!
