Puppy Training

From birth to six months of age, your retriever pup is a learning 'sponge' and this is the best opportunity to socialize and introduce him or her to the field. This stage of training is extremely important since it is in this period of time that will shape your dogs personality. Learning their role in the family begins the minute they arrive home!

Puppy In-Kennel Training

($150/week or $550/mnth; ages 16 wks to 24 wks) Your young retriever is informally introduced to several basic obedience commands (Sit, Down, Heel, Here) and socialized around other people, children, and dogs. We also introduce your puppy to the field environment and expose him or her to birds (pigeons and ducks), gunfire, and swimming.

Puppy Lessons

($50/lesson, or 6 for $250; ages 7 wks to 24 wks) This service is available for the owner that desires to work with his or her pup, but doesn't have access to the necessary land, water, birds, or gunfire. We will work with you on an individual basis for a one hour session, or you can join us in the field during regular training sessions.

Basic Obedience

($550/mnth)– All dogs are pack animals and teaching you to teach your dog its proper place in your pack is our key job.  If you would like to have a dog that is capable of living in your world showing manners, obedience, and respect for your position as the pack leader then this is for you.  The most important thing Hollow Wood Kennels can offer you is a balanced training plan.  Teaching the dog is the easy part.  Teaching you to understand how to handle and take care of your dog is the real goal.  We prepare personalized plans for you and your dog so that you can always refer back to them as needed.

In-Home Lessons

($125/hr) – We also offer lessons in your home environment.  Adam will come out to your house and into your dog’s home turff and show you and your family how to handle your dog or dogs.  This is the best option if your dog has behavior problems at home.  It can sometimes help to be taught in you on home to fix problems immediately.
